MATTERS ARISING.
Letters Received
Michael Brown sent us a copy of his letter to the Observer, which highlighted the loss of Sayesbury Manor to the Town. Members were angry that
we were losing another public meeting room and the green space in the
town centre. Diana R said that in the past the Town Council had considered purchasing Sayesbury Manor but the response to a Public
Questionnaire was so poor that there was no justification to take it forward.
Members requested that we write to EHDC and we asked Joyce V to raise it with the Town Council.
Carol Bartlett has sent us a copy of her letter to Epping Forest Council listing trees for preservation in Sheering and said the
Sawbridgeworth list will be ready soon.
Mark Prisk MP wrote to the Chairman in reply to a letter on air pollution. He advised he had a prior engagement on the 26th.
Letter to HCC. John R has written a letter detailing our achievements and expenditure in support of HCC grant.
EHDC Agenda 21 Meeting. Five members attended a very good talk on pollution and our Chairman presented a short discussion on ways of promoting
the SVP. The Secretary thanked the Committee for all their help in the
past; this was their last meeting. Future EHDC Agenda 21 open meetings will be covered by Local Forums.
Agenda items.
Support to Open Evening.
John R opened the discussion with a proposal to present a trophy to the most active person in the town towards the environment. There was
opposition to the proposal and the idea has been shelved. John R agreed to present the answers to our May Fair Quiz.

AOB.
Diana R asked if people could look for old and new photographs to illustrate interesting aspects of the Town.
Joyce V announced a WI activity to raise funds for the Memorial Hall.
Diana R has received a copy of the Mouchel report on the survey they presented in February this year for public consultation. There was a 10%
majority against the linked traffic signals so this is not being progressed at this time. Strong support (76%) for a 40mph speed limit to the
south of the Town to Harlow, this will be implemented soonest. Public comments on the Bell St Car Park and the need to discourage long-term
parking will be passed to EHDC. They will take a further look at traffic calming in Vantorts/Brook Road and pedestrian access on the A1184 south
of the Town.
* Items held in SVP file in Reference section of Sbw Library.
