HELD AT SAYSBURY
MANOR SAWBRIDGEWORTH
PRESENT: Monya Billings (Acting Chairman)
APOLOGIES: Lanier Pole Hazel Mead
MINUTES:
The minutes of the last meeting
were distributed in good time and accepted by all at the meeting.
MATTERS ARISING:
Major activity on plots of land accessed via Bridgefoot House for more caravans.
AGENDA ITEMS:
1 EHDC Agenda 21 Committee A number of members attended the meeting at Buntingford of the EHDC Agenda 21 Committee. The meeting opened with a talk on public transport in the whole of Herts. While the HCC were running many subsidised transport schemes and trying to integrate the many private operators, the rural transport problem was economy of scale for a regular service to be provided. Warren R asked whether public transport could be on user demand ( USING COMPUTERS) instead of fixed schedules and Ted Burrow asked why the local bus around Sbw had been withdrawn. This lead to a discussion on how we could encourage an integration of voluntary and public transport in Sbw; Joyce V to take lead on voluntary transport. Warren R to find out public transport operators attitude.
2 The Flood Plain. Stan B asked to be added to the invitation to SVP members to support the EHDC walk for Councillors on the flood plain and Pishiobury on the 20th. Members ask if the towpath by Bridgefoot House could be included.
3 Lockkeepers Cottage. Speculation was made about a possible new owner of the cottage but we have to wait for concrete evidence.
4 Fund Raising. Warren R reported that Susan C had sent a copy of possible sources of grants. Members felt that we should have a ‘Brain Storming’ to come up with some projects worth of grant support.
5 AOB. Ted Burrow detailed the problems of traffic congestion in Sbw.
Post meeting note: His letter was presented at the open Annual Town Meeting held by The Sbw Town Council on 8th May.*
Members raised the question of charging for all day parking in the town. It was felt that the problem was exacerbated by lack of parking at the station. It was suggested that land at the end of Sheering Lower Road could be made available for parking at the station. The land was said to belong to Mr Watts and a member who knew him would enquire as to its availability.
6. DNM.
